Inner Drive
Inner Drive is the caring itself: the pull a task, idea, or cause genuinely has on you before anyone adds pressure from outside.
It is the voltage of the system. But voltage is not the same as starting: whether the care converts into action depends on other dials entirely. In the patterns this site maps, Inner Drive is very often the part that was working all along.
The range
- Lower
- Drive distributes evenly and modestly, so no single domain devours you. The trade is that most work needs outside structure to feel worth beginning, because little of it fuels itself.
- Higher
- Strong engagement pull and sustainable effort inside the domains that matter to you. The costs are real: a painful gap between what you want and what you can start, and once launched, a tendency to lock in deeper than you planned.
What it is not
- Not Interest Ignition
- Inner Drive is the voltage; Interest Ignition is the switch that decides whether the voltage reaches the gate. Caring about a task and being activated by it are different properties, and they dissociate more often than anyone expects.
- Not Sustained Effort
- Caring is not continuing. You can care deeply about a project and still run out of the substrate that continuation runs on. Different dial, different fix.
I care about this more than the things I actually do. That is the part nobody believes.
