Some minds produce ideas at a rate their own storage and selection systems were never sized for. A thought arrives carrying three others, each of those opens two more, and before the first idea has been written down or even fully examined, the fourth has displaced it. From the outside it looks like scatteredness. From the inside it is abundance and loss in the same minute.
Where it starts for you
The useful question is not whether you have too many ideas, it is which link gives way first. For some the gate saturates: nothing gets ranked because new ideas are still arriving. For some the buffer overflows and the idea evaporates mid-sentence. For some capture succeeds and retrieval never fires: fourteen notebooks, six apps, and no prompt that brings any of it back. And the same idea stack with a roomier gate and buffer triages the flood in place, which is why this pattern describes a specific ratio, not everyone who has a lot of ideas.

Most capture tools want words. If ideas arrive as felt structure rather than language, every capture costs a translation that is effortful, lossy, and often feels like a reduction of what was actually understood.
