Emotional Amplitude
Emotional Amplitude is how much internal movement a single event produces in you.
Two people get the same news. For one it lands as a wave; for the other it registers quietly and is felt fully only later. This dial is the height of that wave, set before any effort to manage it.
The range
- Lower
- Responses arrive muted or delayed. Events that move others may register as fact before feeling. The cost is reduced access to the urgency and warmth that emotion provides for decisions.
- Higher
- Responses arrive fast and vivid, sometimes before you can name them. This brings deep resonance and strong ethical signal. The cost is that activation can outrun your capacity to hold it and tip into flooding.
What it is not
- Not how often
- Amplitude is how big the wave is. Threat Sensitivity is how often the system gets triggered in the first place. Reacting strongly and triggering often are different profiles.
It is not that everything is a crisis. It is that everything is loud, including the good things.
